G. Krepps, Sr.
James Gary (Jumbo)
Krepps, Sr., 74,
Mountaindale, went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2015 at UPMC-Altoona. He was born January 22, 1941 in Altoona a son
of the late George W. and Viola M. (Smith) Krepps. In addition to his parents he was also
preceded in death by his step-mother Bertha N. (Kelly) Krepps, a favorite Aunt
whom he loved as a mother, Dorothy (Smith) Snyder and her husband Uncle Art,
cousins Arthur A. Snyder, III and Gerald W. (Pete) Snyder whom he loved as
brothers.
On August 27, 1966,
in the Mountaindale
Baptist Church, he married his loving wife the former Susan L. Fiedor who
survives along with son James G. (Stacey Muse), Jr. and grandchildren Kristyn,
Cody and Chelsea, son Justin G. (Paula Krause) and grandchildren Brittany
(Logan) Hamilton, Brandyn, Meghan, Logen, Rylee and Robbie
(Mindy)-great-granddaughter Zoie, daughter Jodi G. (Charles) Chilcote and
grandchildren Joel and Kaylee and son Jonathan G. (Lorie Civiello) and
grandchildren Zachary, Kyle, Travis, Cole and Amanda (Daniel) Hutchinson. He is also survived by his loving brother
Bill (Martha) Krepps and cousins Zoe (Snyder) Edwards, Steve Snyder and Stanley
Snyder.
Jim attended the Altoona
School District
and the Reade Township High School. He
enlisted in the US Army in 1959 and served until 1962 be discharged as an SP4. During his enlistment he spent 27 months
in
Germany. He went to work for the Coca
Cola Company in Altoona when he returned from his military service. In 1966 he joined the IBEW Local #126
apprenticeship program and graduated in 1970.
He worked as a journeyman lineman, foreman, general foreman and
superintendent. He went to work for
Allegheny Power in 1987 and retired from there in 2002 as a construction
inspector. He was a member and trustee
of the Mountaindale Baptist Church. He
was also a member of the F&AM Lodge #574, Coalport, the Jaffa Shine and the
Scottish Rite Consistory, both in Altoona.
Jim served two years on the school board of the Glendale School District
1985-1987. He enjoyed hunting and was a
lifetime member of the NRA. He also
liked to fish and was an avid Steeler fan.
Jim truly loved spending time with his big family at cookouts, family
gatherings and attending many of his grandchildren’s ball games. He will be sadly missed by his family and all
who knew and loved him.
Friends will be received
2-4 & 6-8 pm
Tuesday with a Masonic memorial service by the Coalport Lodge at 6:00 pm at the
McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow and at the Mountaindale Baptist Church Wednesday
9:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service with Pastor Ben Warfel
officiating. Military honors will be
conducted by the Richard L. Beers VFW Post #7043. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers
please make memorial contributions
to the Mountaindale Baptist Church, 687 Mountaindale Rd., Fallentimber,
PA. 16639.
