Charles C. “Chuck” Hescox
Mr. Hescox, 91, Mountaindale,
Fallentimber, RD., died Thursday, January 8,
2015 at the Valley View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Altoona. He was born March 17, 1923, in Glasgow, a son
of the late Clyde H. and Catherine M. (Deppen) Hescox. He is survived by two children: Charles
Hescox of Blandburg and Cecilia C. Hescox of Brownsville, TX., two granddaughters Theresa M. Hescox and Gina
M. Keating, five great-grandchildren Jacqueline, Kimberly and Breanna
McCollough and Katelyn and Olivia Feige and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five siblings: John
of
Hollidaysburg, Bob of Martinsburg, Elizabeth Hockenberry of Flinton, Shirley
Nordgulen of Phoenix, AZ. and Dawn Troxell of Glasgow. He was also preceded in death by two wives
the former Catherine I. Novosel and the former Levina Harris, two long-time companions
Annie Lender and Frieda Smith, a brother James, two infant brothers, and three
sisters Jean Miller, Ivon Kuhn and Dorothy Yingling.
Chuck was a 1941 graduate of Reade Twp. High
School and served as a Staff Sergeant for the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired in 1983 from the Pennsylvania
Railroad/Conrail, Altoona where he was employed for 40 years as a Boilermaker. He then worked many years as the area’s
handyman and was a member of the Mountaindale Baptist Church and the Korman
Lodge I.O.O.F. #574, Glasgow.
Friends will be received Sunday
2-6 pm at
the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow. Funeral
services will be held Monday at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Ben
Warfel officiating .Interment in
Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow. In lieu
of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Mountaindale Baptist
Church, 143 Ash Rd., Fallentimber, PA.
