Henry E. “Hank” Colwell
Mr. Colwell, 89, Bellemeade Graystone Court, Altoona, died at 2:59 pm. Monday, September
23, 2013 at UPMC-Altoona. He was born June 30, 1924, in Blandburg, a son of the late James A. and Ruth E. (Garman) Colwell
and on April 8, 1955, in Hollentown, married Beverly J. Briggs who survives along with two children Joanne M. White of Midlothian,
VA. and Duane E. (Tammy) of Stanardsville, VA. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a brother Ralph
of Sellersville, PA. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers George, Alex and Samuel and a sister Irene Patton.
Hank was a 1942 graduate of Reade Twp. High School and a 1950 graduate of Penn State
University. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during WWII and was a POW in Germany. He retired in 1991
as a Forester for Appalachian Power Co., Roanoke, VA.
He attended the Hollentown Assembly of God where funeral services will be held Friday
at 11:00 am with Pastor Joe Hollen officiating. Interment will be in Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood. Friends will be received
at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 pm and at the church Friday 10:00 am until the hour of services.
