Philena M. Turner


Philena M. Turner, 94, a resident of Philipsburg the past 15 years, and formerly of Kingwood, WV for the prior 45 years, died Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg.

She was born July 22, 1921 in Dysart, a daughter of the late George W. and Philena R. (Ricketts) Mansfield. She was twice married, first in 1938 in Bellwood to Robert F. Reese who was killed in action in Germany during WWII on March 19, 1945 and second in 1948 in Ashville to John K. Turner who died April 14, 2000. Surviving are two sons Robert (Becky) Reese of Philipsburg and John Turner of Masontown, WV. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers John and George and two sisters Mary Edna Pier and Gladys Zeughardt.

Philena was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and the Preston Country Club, both in Kingwood, WV. and was an avid golfer. She had volunteered at the Kingwood 911 Center. She was also a charter member of the Ashville VFW Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Ashville VFW Home Association and the Order of the Eastern Star #62 in Kingwood.

Friends will be received Wednesday 4-7 pm at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow where services will be held Thursday at 11:00 am with Pastor Joe Hollen officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow.
