Matthew F. Bordack

Mr. Bordack, 87, Blandburg, died Thursday, January 2, 2014 at UPMC-Altoona. Born October 14, 1926 in Blandburg, a son of the late Matthew T. and Anna (Janos) Bordac. On May 3, 1952 in Blandburg he married Virginia Louise Lender who died October 17, 1987. Surviving are son Thomas M. of Hollidaysburg, daughter Susan L. Ronan of Claysburg and her children Andy, Tammy and Justin, son Joseph E. (Amy) of Altoona and their children David and Sara, daughter Joan M. (Neal) Mesteller of Seward and their children Brian and Aaron and son Matthew L. (Heather) of Blandburg and their daughter Cierra and Heather’s son Matt. Also surviving are his deceased sons’, Wendell, children Wendy, Angie and Eric. He is also survived by 8 greatgrandchildren, a sister Sister Genevieve Bordac of Neceda, WI., and a special friend Betty Tate of Altoona. Also preceded in death by an infant child and a brother Wendell.

Matt was a 1944 gradate of Reade Twp. High School, a 1950 graduate of Penn State University and had attended the University of Pittsburgh. He had been a Math Teacher at Reade Twp. High School and the Glendale School District for over 35 years. He also taught in the Upward Bound programs at St. Francis University and Mt. Aloysius College. He was an Athletic Director at Glendale for 20+ years.

Mr. Bordack was a Yeoman 2nd Class in the US Navy during both WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Frugality and the Bellwood AmVets. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow, Saturday from noon-5:00 pm with funeral services immediately following. Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow. Military honors conducted by Coalport VFW.
