Sherman G. Scott, III

Sherman G. Scott, III, 62, Sinking Valley, died Thursday, April 12, 2018 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born July 18, 1955 in Altoona a son of Sherman G. Scott and the late Mary E. (Bowman) Scott. On April 16, 2004 he married Betty C. Colee who died October 8, 2015. Surviving is a son Ryan W. Scott of Duncansville, his father of Tyrone, three brothers James W. (Liz) Scott of Glasgow, R. Lynn (Janey) Scott of Coalport, Jeff Jackson of Florida and a sister Jennifer (Bob) Stackhouse of New Jersey and his beloved partner, Jackie Freeman, who selflessly cared for him throughout his illness. Also surviving is an aunt Theresa Bougher of Utahville.

Sherm was a 1973 graduate of Glendale High School and had been employed as an estimator by Bolger Brothers of Altoona for many years. He loved fishing and was a member and past officer of the Swiss Club of Altoona and a member of the Masonic Lodge, Tyrone. He leaves a footprint of laughter on all those he encountered throughout his life.

Friends will be received on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 5-8 pm and Sunday from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm funeral services at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow. Pastor Jon Hommer will officiate and burial will be in Cambria Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the Central PA. Humane Society and/or the American Cancer Society and/or the Irvona Presbyterian Church.
