Kenneth R. Ball

Kenneth R. Ball, 58, Altoona, died Saturday, January 21, 2017 at UPMC-Altoona. He was born February 23, 1958, in Philipsburg, a son of the late Walter Gates and Margaret Ball. Surviving are two children, Selena M. Ball of Carnegie and Dexter A. Ball of Altoona; six siblings Rulla Hillyer and Darlene Vereshack, both of Smoke Run, Ruth Ann Shomo and Wayne Ball, both of Coalport, Dennis Gates of Janesville and Rhonda Barrett of Mahaffey; his best friend, Bob Carns; and his ex-wife Susan (McCaulley) Ball, to whom he had been married 35 years. He was preceded in death by a son Kenny, a brother Wilfred "Bud" Ball and a sister Patty.

Ken was full of life. He was a very animated character loved by many; generous, kind, and always made people laugh. He was the life of the party. He enjoyed hunting, riding atv's with friends and family, woodworking, working on cars, and remodeling the house. He had a giving heart, always willing to lend a hand to those in need.

In his youth Ken was fortunate enough to have found his calling as a heavy equipment operator at the former Sky Haven Coal Co., Penfield.

Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 pm Thursday, January 26, 2017 and from 10 am until the 11 am services Friday at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow. Funeral Services conducted by Pastor Joe Hollen. Burial will be in Utahville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the funeral home.
